1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Antingham St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Antingham lies in northeastern Norfolk about
2 miles northwest of the market town of North Walsham. Antingham is a
bit of a straggle of a village running between the busy A149 road (which
connects North Walsham with Cromer) and the railway line (Cromer to Norwich).
Antingham is a farming settlement, like so many in Norfolk it is intensely
arable today but would probably have been a little more varied (utilising
crop rotation) at the time of this transcript. The A149 which cuts through
the parish has been widened in the late 20th century and forms something
of a barrier between village and hall when once they were united. Antingham
lends its name, or possibly the other way around, to the River Ant, one
of Broadland's significant rivers, which has its source in the parish
before winding through to Great Yarmouth. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of this transcript but runs onwards to completion in the late 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1657 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. A relatively recent film it has the superior image qualities of today's productions and this transcript was as a consequence straightforward to prepare. |
